Final chapter in Foundation.

I could still remember clearly the first day I started my foundation. That time, during the orientation, the host said that the college and university life are way better and more fun than secondary life. Initially, I didn’t believe a word they said cause in my opinion, what could be so fun about studying and struggling to pass the test? Only a nerd will say studying is fun. The first trimester is the hard one for me cause i never experienced it before. Everything were so new to me. Practical report to pass up (not 1 but 2!), assignment, presentation and energy-draining exam to pass. I couldn’t wait for the foundation to end as i couldn’t accept the ways are done there. But as the time past, I slowly get used to it and now that my foundation year is over, I feel kinda sad that it had over so fast. The sadness is not because I’ll miss all the subjects and exam I had studied. It’s because i’ll miss all friends there as most of us will go on separate ways for degree course. They are the reason on why I actually look forward to come to the UTAR every week days. Without them, going to UTAR will be a chore and no fun at all. Besides that, because of them, I have a lot memorable and sweet memories in UTAR PJ. Hence, I’m going to dedicate to most of my friends in this blog. ( to those who i didn’t mention, sorry cause i might have forgotten).

Joseph Ang: I can confidently say that he is the most friendly and helpful guy in UTAR. The first time I actually seat beside him and talk to him was during the physics class with Mr Ch’ng. That time, my ‘eye power’ have increase but I haven’t change my spectacle yet. So, every time when there’s a note written on the whiteboard, I will borrowed his note to copy since i can’t really see clearly. Since that day, we have been hanging out together. In fact, for the whole 3 trimester, we have been working together as a group for assignment and practical. Though sometime we might have some miscommunication, we can work well together as a team. Although he like to help others (photostat things, help in studies and so on), I think that sometimes it has become his weakness because he has a difficulty in saying no to other people’s request for help. Hence, there are some people who actually try to take advantage of him. Still, he is a fun guy to have as a friend.

Timothy Cheng: Timothy Cheng Kok Kin aka King of Anime and Download Stuff. This guy is the main source of entertainment in UTAR. Without him, we won’t be able to get the latest anime or movie to watch. Downloading stuff is his specialty. You just name it and he will get it for you within a day. He is the second guy I actually friend with during the foundation. (the first guy is Ruben) And he is also the first friend at UTAR which I had lunch with. I still remember it was at the old town cafe and the reason why i can remember it is because that coffee shop had cheated me RM6 for two pieces of toast with tiny slice of bacon. Painful..painful.. I couldn’t thank him enough for fetching me to the Taman Jaya LRT station almost everyday. It means a lot to me as I can save RM0.50 on each day he fetch. haha

Mother Gan: The thinnest guy in UTAR. This guy has a good sense of humour. I enjoy telling jokes or playing fool with him because i always like to see his weird reaction and the way he ‘shoot’ me back. He is a funny guy and never seem to be serious at all. I don’t know how he get the ‘mother gan’ status but i think it suit him well.

Jeffery Tan: I pity this guy the most among all of my friends. Since he is from the other state, he need to work till late at night after classes to get some cash for his daily need. Hence, it’s rare to see him to arrive UTAR early in the morning. I enjoy being around with him because we have a similar interest which is Jpop and Kpop. We always exchange songs with each other and he is the only guy in UTAR  who actually like and listen to BoA’s songs! It’s nice to have someone to share your interest with. Another thing about him is that he is really pro in playing DoTA and badminton. He is our badminton manager as he is always the one who settle the booking of the court. The one thing that i will always remember about him is his hyena laugh.

Alex Tan: This guy takes quite a time to get used to the foundation year. In the first trimester, he is very quiet and shy guy. He doesn’t talk very much and when you ask him one question, he will only give you one answer. When the second trimester start, he starts to show his true inner self. Now, if you ask him one question, he will give you 10 answers and if you are lucky, he will shoot you with another question. He is also a funny guy and like to tell a sarcastic joke but it still funny though. Similar to jeff, he is also working and his job require him to smuggle indo maids into the country. XD

Soon Lee: The smartest guy in our gang. He can solve almost every problems and questions in our tutorial or test. This guy is also very funny and likes to tell jokes that "’shoot’ other people. Alex Tan Teng Eng is always together with him and this sometimes make me think that maybe Soon Lee is Alex long lost younger brother. Or son…

James Bong: I only get to really know him in sem3 and thus have nothing much to say about him. He is a really friendly guy and can talk on any topic.

Daniel: Know him since secondary school. Still the same guy and likes to shout "Bird bird’ in a very high pitch voice. I guess he is too excited looking at Bertlin.

Ke Xin: Soon Lee is the smartest GUY but Ke Xin is the smartest HUMAN in UTAR. Sorry, no offence to soon lee. Seriously, she is so smart that sometimes I wonder if such perfect human actually exist. But she is quiet most of the time and i seldom see her talk nonsense or rubbish. Sorry, no offence to teng eng. After knowing her only I know how true is it when people say that the dog that don’t bark, bite the hardest.

Mai Yin: I first met her at UTAR PC block. That time, she was asking me the location of the text book stall in Cantonese. Since i can’t really speak or understand Cantonese, I just simply point my finger to the stairs that lead to the first floor. Once she left, i ask Daniel (he was together with me at that time but somehow she has the ability to ask question to those who don’t know Cantonese) what does she ask. After Daniel told me what she actually asked, i immediately chase after her and lead her to the right direction. Then, on that very same day, she enter my class and i only realised that she’s my classmate. Luckily I showed her the right direction or else.. who know what might happen.

Hsiao Huay: Nothing much to say except that she is also very quiet. Are all the girls that quiet? Oh wait, I forgotten there’s Amitha.

Ting San: Similar to Bong, I only get to really know her in sem 3 because thats the only sem we are in the same class. The interesting things about her are her smile and laughter. Hearing her laugh is like hearing a calm classical music. Maybe jeff should learn how to laugh like her.

Weng Yan: You can easily noticed her because she wears the same outfit every time in UTAR. She has the best command of English language and can really speak like the ‘white’ people. It’s very interesting to hear her speak especially when she is doing her presentation. I don’t know why but some how my animal instinct tells me that it’s better not to mess around with her unless I really want to stay in the hospital for few months.

I thought that my foundation life will be like my secondary school life (i have a very boring secondary life and hate it because of all the school rules) but i was wrong. My foundation life is a wonderful journey with many happy and sad experiences. Thank you so much guy and gals for all the sweet memory you had provided to me. I really appreciate it. May we meet again sometimes.
