Yesterday was the first time I work over time on a weekend. And I kinda like the environment on weekend. It was very quiet and peaceful. Some people like to work with a huge group of people but not me. I feel much more comfortable without having a lot of people walking around the office. I had to OT (my senior as well) because there’s work need to be completed by next week.
The thing about my office is that the person who is the last one to leave the office will have to lock the office and keep the key. The next day, he/she will have to come early to unlock the office’s gate. So that’s your responsibility if you’re the key holder. The day before that, I asked one of the senior engineers whether what time does the key holder will unlock the gate. He told me that usually drafters will unlock the gates on weekend because they will work overtime. And when he told me about it, I smiled because of the way he talk about it. He said that drafters normally want to claim OT and in most cases, they will come early in the morning, (say at around 8am) so that they go back home early at around 12pm since the minimum hours to claim OT is 4 hours. The way he describe their behaviour is like watching a documentary on Animal Planet, where the host will describe the species’s behaviour in the wild. I find it pretty amusing. =D
Although the working environment on weekend is kinda nice, I don’t think I’ll will do it often. The travelling alone really exhausting… ><
