Gift exchange event! =D

As the last event for the year, my company organised a gift exchange event and I took part in it because I never participate in such event before. This is how it works. Whoever who choose to join will pick a random name and will then decide what’s the best gift for him/her. We were given a week to prepare the gift and I guess it’s way for us to put in effort to get to know the colleagues we’re working with.

After finding out that the person, who I got from the lucky draw, likes TOP who’s a part of Big Bang, I got her their album and luckily, she likes the gift alot. For me, I got a thermos flask, and the message that comes together with the gift is “Now you can keep your coffee/milo hot in office! Ho Ho Ho”. Hahaha, thank you for being so thoughtful. The person noticed that I always make drink in the pantry (only when I’m sleepy, not everytime ><) and he/she got me the perfect colour, glossy blue! Thank you for the gift =D

 

One mistake that I made was that I reveal myself!!! In the card that was attached with the gift, I wrote “From Wong Yeon Ciat”. I didn’t know that we were supposed to remain anonymous even AFTER the exchanging of gift. I thought that we only need to remain anonymous UNTIL the event is over… When my colleagues got their gift, all their card were written, “From your mysterious Santa”. Ahhhhhh…. Even for my gift, the card was written, “From Santa”. Gahhhhhh…. I’m so foolish.. The girl who received my gift, she actually read out loud my name, as if she was also shocked to see that there’s such people who exposed themselves. That’s the moment I realized what went wrong. >< But still, I’m going to try to search for my mysterious Santa. The hunt is on! =D

 

Predicting Death

What if you have the gift to predict or foresee a death event of the people around you? A gift to know when a person will die just like the way you knows the expiry date for food products. How would you use that gift?

Recently, a colleague’s mom passed away and it happened few days after our company’s team building event in Port Dickson. We had a great time during that event and to have this unfortunate thing to happen all of the sudden, life can never be crueler to him. I felt sorry for his loss. During the time of incident, when I met him in casual clothes at the door of the office, I jokingly asked him, “Whoa, why so casual today?” He gave me a smile and a small laugh before leaving the office. Now that I know what actually happen, I felt terrible.

It’s hard to handle the death of the loved one especially if it happened so suddenly. Most people regret on what they should have done or said to the deceased when they are still breathing. Hence, the question at the beginning of this post; how would you use that gift if you have one? Would you be more caring towards your parent after taking them for granted for so long? Would you treat your friend better and told them everything you have been hiding from them? Would you tell them that their time is coming soon so that they can plan on what to do for their remaining time or not telling them because ignorance is bliss?

I’m not being negative, it just that all these thoughts were inside my head recently. Especially with all the death story published in newspaper and online.

 

A Good Day

Manage to have an outing with friends (Sheren and Ting San) this afternoon and it was a good way to end the hectic week I have been having now. Actually we were supposed to have it last week to celebrate Sheren’s birthday but it got postponed till today because she have something on. Nevertheless, it was nice to catch up things with her again after all this while. And to spend the day with my bestie? Priceless. Felt like the day end pretty fast. Wish that I have more time to talk to her.

We watch Frozen today, a Disney movie, and I’m pretty impressed with the stunning visual. And it’s a good move too for the studio to have plenty of songs in the movie because that’s how Disney’s classic movie used to do, eg Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, etc. Story wise, it explores the close bond between sisters, which is a bit unique compared to other animation movies released recently. Although I could pretty much predict what happen next because I read a lot of movie review about it, it’s still entertaining enough and I gotta love Olaf, the mini snowman.

Next movie I’m planning to watch: The Hobbit, Desolation of Smaug =D
