End of Y3S1

My sem break is going to end real soon. To summarize everything:

1)      Just went to Redang trip last week. The trip lasted for five days, and there were moments when I’m having fun, experience new stuffs, feel bored a little bit, and don’t understand why people acted certain way.

2)      Had a 3 month deals with a friend that begins this coming June but I decided to start ahead because I’m afraid I won’t have time to commit into it later.

3)      Got to know from mom that Viva, the shopping complex nearby my home, going to have a book sale tomorrow. They going to give you a bag and regardless of how many books you managed to fill into the bag, you will only need to pay RM50. How cool is that!! Sometimes, things can be too good to be true. I hope they won’t scam people by offering super old novels. Anyway, thanks mom! ^^

4)      Going to Genting resort for another trip tomorrow too. It will be one night stay and I don’t really know what we will do there as the person who organizes this trip doesn’t gives out much information.

5)      Finally the results are out. I was glad that I managed to pass all but the results are pretty weird. There are some subjects that I thought I will get lower grades. But it turns out that I have a better grade for that said subjects compared to other subjects that I thought I will score better. I noticed that this sem, many people are really nervous about getting their results. Usually, I would be like that too but for unknown reason, I don’t really care anymore this sem. I feel relax and had this “aiyah, results die, then die only lah. Who cares?” feeling. Not sure if this is a good or bad sign.

Stupid advice

It’s fun to watch Ellen with other celebrities on her show, especially the part where she make fun of her guests. But this time, her guest is Nicki Minaj?? Seriously Ellen?? Of all the singers in the world, why her?? It’s not like I have any grudge against her. I just dislike her cheap way of gaining popularity.

Together with her on the show were two young kids; Sophia Grace and Rosie. In one segment of the show, Ellen asked Nicki to give the girls some advices. Normally, when people asked you to give advice to someone, especially to young hatchlings who barely have any experience in life, you will try to tell them something useful which will help to guide them later in life.

Like “Some battles have to be fought alone. Some paths have to be crossed alone. So never be emotionally attached with anyone. You will never know when you have to walk alone.”

Or maybe “Never blame any day in your life. Good days give you happiness. Bad days give you experience. Worst days give you a lesson.”  Something like that. Something that will make you ponder it over again.

This what she told the girls:

Now I’m gonna make some juicy advice to give you guys. Okay, this has to be really memorable. Erm, let me think. Sophia and Rosie, ………………… *drum rolls. Here comes the advice of the century!*

don’t EVER let anyone talk you out of wearing pink.

Now pink is your color, okay. Pink is going to keep you happy for the rest of your life. Pink is going to give you power, energy and even girl-liness that you need, okay. You wear your crown and you are a queen. And that’s it.

Wow, I really doubt that advice is really going to help the 2 girls in life. Well, I’m not surprised. What can you expect from a singer who sang ‘Baddest Bitch’, ‘Ucci Ucci’, ‘N.I.G.G.A.S’ and ‘Kill  Da DJ’. I was guessing that she’s trying to tell the girls to be themselves, the classic Disney “Just be yourself” kind of advice. If that’s what she really wants to convey, she did a terribly bad job.

My reaction after listening her golden advice

RIP Avery Lynn Canahuati – 11/11/11 – 04/30/12

I got to know about this from Ellen’s page and it’s real sad to know about her passing. Her parent created a blog for her to share her stories and to spread awareness about SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy) to everyone. I’m just going to take some parts from the blog to share with you here, so that you know something about her.

This was the 1st post in her blog.

“Friday 04/06/12, around 3:30p, my mom & dad received a call from my neurologist and the SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy) test results came back positive.  Meaning the worst case scenario has occurred and I have been diagnosed with SMA Type 1. SMA is the #1 genetic killer of infants & children under the age of 2, yet most people have never heard of it, most OB/GYN’s do not offer tests for it, and it’s not included when performing genetic pre-screening tests for other potential diseases & disorders.  There is currently no cure and it attacks the muscles which causes inefficiency of the major bodily organs – especially of the respiratory system – and eventually leads to death.  1 in 40 people are carriers of the SMA gene.  Meaning my mommy and daddy had a 1 in 1600 chance of both having it and even then there was only a 1 in 6400 chance I would get it.”

And this is the recent post

“11/11/11 – 04/30/12

Hello everyone this is Avery’s father.  Avery passed away yesterday sometime around 3pm due to pulmonary complications related to SMA.  In short, one of her lungs collapsed and she went into cardiac arrest.  I immediately performed CPR on her and was able to bring her back to life, but only for a brief period of time before she passed away shortly after arriving at the hospital.  Avery’s passing this quickly came as a complete shock to all of us, as she had just been given a thumbs up at her last doctors appointment only three days ago. While we were aware of the severity of her diagnosis, we never lost hope for Avery and even in her passing, we still have hope for our daughter and all of her friends.”

When all of us complained about how stressful our life, how difficult is to pass the exam, how life is so unfair and etc, there is always someone out there who doesn’t even have the privilege to experience all that. We took everything for granted and thought that education is the main purpose of life. I got to enjoy my life a little more. I don’t want my life ended with memories of finite difference method, heat distribution, Abram’s Law and all those shit. Reading Avery’s blog made me realize again how short is everyone’s life.

Rest in Peace Avery Lynn Canahuati.

Do read her blog if you have time to spare: http://averycan.blogspot.com/
