This obstacle run is the second one I’ve joined so far, the first is the Viper Challenge which is like so long ago. After the Viper challenge, I kind of make a note to myself to not join any more obstacles kind of event because of the price of the ticket, the venue and how tiring is the whole thing. But this particular event managed to pull my interest because it’s part of a warzone series where they tackle four different kind of themes; Urban, Jungle, Beach and Mountain.
I really like the idea of going through all that and to have a complete series of medals for all of that themes. However, looking at their main webpage, there’s a possibility that they gave up on continuing the series after the first one due to the low number of participants for this round. It’s the lowest turnout I’ve seen so far in all the events that I’ve joined.
Compared to Viper, the hype wasn’t that great and the obstacles looked so ‘basic’ and so ‘DIY’ kind of feel. It doesn’t mean that it’s a lot less challenging but it kinda makes you think that the organizer is trying their best to save cost as much as possible on the obstacles. There’s lots of spare tyres, simple scaffoldings kind of framing, rented lorries for you to climb over, empty oil barrels, etc.
But to be fair, it’s a good try and good effort from the organizer as I believe that this is the first time they held this kind of obstacle event. And they are extremely generous with the drinks provided. They actually give away a WHOLE can of 100 plus at EVERY stops. Normally people would pour the drinks into the paper cup so that the supply can last longer. I want to believe that they did that because they are really generous and not because they had to, else all will go to waste as the number of participants is too low XD.
One thing that I’m proud of from this event is that I finally able to complete the monkey bar challenge. I failed during the Viper as my arm’s strength couldn’t last till the final bar. It is one of the best feeling in the world to be able to complete that challenge. And the thing that make it even better is that I saw a few muscle guys (the type of guy who go to a high-end gym, drink plenty of protein shakes and take picture in front of a mirror in their tight spandex for their motivational FB post) failed that obstacle. Ahh… best feeling in the world XD
