Bored with this sem

    Almost 1 week in this new semester and I don’t feel motivated at all to study all the subjects. It’s starts to get more boring as I keep on continuing in this course. In Year 1 Sem 1, I learned about the forces applied on objects in dynamics. In Year 1 Sem 2, I learned about forces again and the equilibrium equation in Statics. In Year 1 Sem 3, once again, I learned about forces and equilibrium stuff in Structural Analysis. And for my current Year 2 Sem 1, I need to learn about the same stuff again! Forces and equilibrium in Structural Analysis II and Solid Mechanics I. Is Civil engineering is all about forces stuff and nothing else? Although it does gives me a small advantage compared to students from other courses who are taking the same subjects as well, I just don’t like the idea of learning the same thing over and over again. Even the lecturers who are teaching these subjects also find it boring to teach. You could easily see these when they start their lectures. Their bodies are there but no souls at all.

    I no longer have the excitement of learning things in uni anymore. It seems like I go to uni for the sake of passing the exams and just to get a degree, not for the knowledge that comes with it. Sometimes I do wonder whether have I made a right decision?

 

Tron Legacy

    Wohoo, have a great time yesterday with few of my buddies, Joseph, Kok Kin, Mother Gan, Shen Cheen, Daniel and Bong. Since the semester is going to start really soon, we decided to have this outing to relax ourselves before the torturing moment comes. What makes this event much more special is Daniel, the guy who have so many things to do at home, actually have time to spend the day with us. It’s really rare to see him going out having fun with us. Though he still have to go back early, we had great time and I’m sure he too had a great time leading us the way all the time. ^^

    After a few minutes of brainstorming on what movie we should see (this thing will not happen if he can go back late), we finally decided to watch Tron Legacy in 3D!! The movie starts at 6.30pm and that time, it’s only 2pm. So, we basically spend that extra 4 hours plus jalan-jalan to low yat plaza and do the “see, touch but no buy” (window shopping is the better term). Then, we spend the remaining extra hour in the arcade. Lol, this is the funniest moment of the day. At first, you can see the exciting expression on their faces when they buy the tokens and insert the tokens into the machines. But the fun part is to see how fast that facial expression change when the screen shows “Game Over”. The reaction during that time was totally priceless. I met an old friend too at the arcade, but the time is not suitable for the catch up chatting. So, we just briefly talk and update ourself on each other lives.

    The time had finally come. I been looking forward to watch this movie for a long time after reading many reviews about it in newspaper. And I simply love the movie!! Every minute of it. The 3D effect is totally breathtaking and spectacular!! I love the way they fully utilise the 3D format to show the various depth inside the movie. It doesn’t feel like you are watching at a white screen. Instead, it’s more like looking through a window and watching all these cool scenes unfold in front of you. I want to write down the synopsis here too but I scare it will be too long. The plot is ok, nothing really special or unique. The only thing I’m a bit confuse is what will happen to Quorra, the girl who manage to arrive at the real world with the lead character at the end of the movie. Since she’s a program, if she get hurt in the real world, will she bleed like normal human being or break into many pieces?

    Anyway, that’s the coolest 3D movie I have ever watch! I love their super portable bike, the jet plane, the city, the digital world, their LED costumes and the disc battle. The digital world in this movie is way much more cooler than the fake digital world in Digimon series and Matrix (not that sure about matrix though).

    We end the day by having our dinner at the toilet theme restaurant, the TBowl. It was already 9pm and the restaurant’s staffs started to clean everything up before closing. We are the last and the only customers left, so we actually have the restaurant all to ourselves. The food that I ordered was just ok, nothing much to comment about. However, it’s really obvious that the food that I’m eating was actually meant to keep overnight for today business. So, it’s a bit disappointing that I spend money to eat ‘leftover’ food. Overall, I really enjoyed the outing and 2011 is the year with lots of cool movies. So tempted to spend more valuable time and money to watch movies again..

The one on the right is actually the exact image of the one on the left when he’s still young. Seeing them interact with each other really show how much technology have advance.

 He’s a one talented actor. For those who don’t know, he also acted as the main villain in the first Iron Man movie.
