A Mewtwo standing on rotary platform. To my mystery Santa, thank you for the gift!! ^^

It’s really nice and I didn’t expect to get that as a present. Though some advise me not to investigate your identity, i’m just too curious to know who you are. Let’s see who is that “someone special”. XD

I got this gift from Eileen, and it’s a very thoughtful gift. A waterproof bag for outdoor activities. Can’t wait to try it out. =D

And last but not least, a gift from May Theng from the random gift exchange. We are supposed to get a gift based on a verse from a Bible and the one that I received is Mark 9:41; For truly, I say to you, whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because you belong to Christ will by no means lose his reward. Hence, I got that cup ^^

And just some random event that happened today. While waiting for my friend to pick me up from the Kelana Jaya LRT station, a lady approached and showed me her handphone, asking me whether have I noticed any car with the specific number plate shown in the handphone screen. She was speaking to me in a mixture of malay language and cantonese, and I replied her in english that nope, I didn’t managed to spot that specific car.

She then immediately said, “Ohh, so you prefer to speak in english?”

“Yup, I’m more comfortable speaking in english”

From then on, she talked to me in english, telling me about the car that she wants to buy, why she wants to buy Proton car and finally, the reason on why english is so important. Once my friend reached the station, I told her that I have to make a move and her last advice to me is; “Don’t let go of english”. Thank you friendly stranger. I’ll keep that in mind.

Another event that happened; On the way back home, it was raining heavily and I decided to just wait at the station until the rain stops. A lady walked past me and when she saw me waiting, she asked me whether do I want to share umbrella with her. I smiled and replied that it’s okay, I can just wait for a while. She insisted that it’s really fine with her and since I don’t want to say no to her too many times, I accepted that offer. Another thanks to a random kind stranger.

6th Run: PJ Half Marathon 2014 21km

Joining a 21km marathon never cross in my mind before but somehow, my friends managed to convince me to give it a try. They persuade me with the reason that in life, you have to try everything once and of course, unless you had gone through the activity itself, you always thought, “Yeah, why not? I should try it and life is short. YOLO!!”.

But when you started running and when you finally realize that 21km is a really long distance, you will start to wonder whether is it you the one that make life shorter. As I run through the distance, the YOLO spirit is slowly replace by YODO (You Only Die Once) spirit.

Anyway, joke aside, like any other run that I participated, there’s a sense of accomplishment, but it’s bigger this time. Before the run, I set an objective for my own; to just keep on running and try not to stop. Unfortunately, I didn’t meet that goal as I walk a few times at the last few kilometers. The last 3km was the most tiring ever and the longest 3km in my life.

The one thing that I don’t really like about this run is that most of the route is along the main road traveled by vehicles. It felt uncomfortable to run and inhale all the fumes released by the vehicles, especially when there are buses passing by. Another interesting thing about this run is that they put a signboard at every 1km to show you how far you had run.

I’m not sure about others but personally, I think it’s demotivating and I would prefer if they put the sign board at every 5km instead and then only at every 1km for the last few km. I was running with full spirit and I thought that I had traveled for some quite distance, till I saw the signboard saying 3km. Seriously? Only 3km? And my shirt is already soaked with sweats. I put in more effort and try to increase my pace and I started to feel the first sign of strain on my legs. When I saw another signboard ahead, I was hoping for 6km or something more. But nope, it shows 4km. That’s it, going to ignore the signboard till the last leg of the run.

Thing that I learned throughout the run: Since this is a half marathon, there are a few stations that provides wet sponges. I never tried that before and I saw some people squeeze the sponges on their body to cool down. I thought that that’s the way to use it and I follow along. Not a really good idea. Your shirt will get soaked even more and now, the whole shirt will stick to your body and it’s very uncomfortable and distracting. If there’s a slight breeze in the air, you will feel so cold and it disturbs your concentration. The best way to use the wet sponge is to wipe your body with it, not squeezing the water all over you.
