Dedication for the Four Years

Four years of Degree.

Four years of Journeys.

Four years of Trials, Pain and Laughter.

There’s an End for every Beginning.

And to end it all, I want to dedicate this post to those I’ve met during those four years. The following list is not in particular order; it’s just randomly based on whoever I thought of first.

Cassandra Lee Ting San

She’s the one who made all the differences. The first friend I have in Year One and she’s has been by my side till the end of Year Four. I already knew her since foundation but we didn’t talk much and I never thought that one day, I’ll value her friendship a lot. We started going to class and do assignments together and soon enough, I don’t think that there’s any assignment I want to do without her. In fact, without her around, going to university will be the most boring thing to do ever. I have a very huge disadvantage, which is I can’t speak any kind of Chinese dialect. So imagine throwing a banana guy in a place where most people prefer to speak in their mother tongue. I couldn’t mix very well with the people there because of that language barrier, which is one thing that I regret the most for not learning extra language. Thankfully, she’s there to accompany me and talk to me. She might not know that but the gesture alone means so much to me. I’ll miss all the moments we spent together and I hope it doesn’t end here. Thank you for being there for me.

Memorable moments: Too many to list them out.

Joseph Ang Rui Ren

The guy who is always there to help whenever I ask for it. There are so many times I troubled him by asking for rides, sleeping over at his place, and asking for rides again. But he still helps in any way he can. And I even lost counts on how many times he belanja me makan and minum for no specific reason. That’s how kind he is. Eventhough we kinda rarely see each other because of different courses, I enjoy talking to him whenever I have that chance. It brings back the good old time during foundation, where people actually care whether are you joining in the conversation.

Memorable moments: All the time we joke around or tease other people. Ahh… the sweet moments.. XD

Chiew Mai Yin

I could still remember the first time I met her and it was really funny that time. Now, she already went back to her hometown and I kinda miss her presence in KL. Normally, when I went over to the condo, I get to talk to her and tease her a bit and get scolded by her. But now, it always felt like there’s something missing, something not right. I miss the time when I complain anything to her and told her how much I hate the person and she will tell me the guy she hates as well.

Memorable moment: The time when she accompany me to do the stupid highway assignment. She didn’t gain any benefit from it but she’s willing to take the bus with me from Wangsa Maju to Bukit Bintang and all the way back again. And it was so late at night that time. Not once but twice. And it was extra memorable because I was emotionally down during that moment. Thank you so much for accompany me!

Ng Jie Jing

One of the things that I like about her is the way she thinks and view thing in life. Among all the girls, she is the least complicated because she doesn’t make thing complicated, like most girls do. I’m not saying that she’s not feminine or anything. It’s just that she view things in more logical way and use common sense instead of relying 100% on emotional feeling. If she’s angry, there is a logical explanation behind it. Nothing about “I emo like shit today, that’s why I hate all this”. Maybe that’s the reason why I can talk almost anything with her. And she got an awesome drawing skill! (I wish I have that too).

Memorable moments: The trip around Batu Pahat and Kluang. The time we hike the Gunung Lambak with the fake waterfall. And also during the cycling trip, where she’s the only one patient enough to teach me cycling while the rest race around the park.

Gan Sheue Li

The girl who I enjoy sharing music with. The time that I got the chance to get close with her was during the first few times when we go back together using the public transport during the earlier years. It was really fun that time because we would make fun of the weird passengers that board into the train and yeah, it’s evil but fun. We do have our little cold war occasionally but we managed to fix it and I think it taught us both something; life sucks sometimes. She can be the happiest people around, only if the situation doesn’t screw it up.

Memorable moment: When she told me the stories that are bothering her. Hopefully that one day, she will stop keeping everything inside her and face everything alone.

Gan Eng Choon

Mother Gan, still the same old Mother Gan. I still enjoy his sense of humour and his weird accent. Still can’t figure out where his accent comes from but I guess that’s what make him unique from the rest huh.

Memorable moment: Seeing him out of breath when hiking Broga Hill. Gosh, I still find it hilarious!

Members from the Wangsa Maju Church of Christ and the LST teams

Thank you guys for all the fun times and treating me nicely. Otherwise, my daily life will only involve going to university and nothing else. A special thanks goes to my LST teacher; Sultana, Marsha and Andrea!

Memorable moments: The reading sessions and the activities we done together.

Loh Jian Rong

The boss of the group. Any difficult assignment? He settle. Any activities relating with the course? He settle. Any bills need to be pay? He settle. Haha, the first time that Ting San and I met him, we thought that he’s from Taiwan or China or something because of the way he look. Maybe it’s because of his sharp edge eye shape. And we actually got the balls to ask him whether he is from China. LOL!

Memorable moment: The where-you-come-from question. XD

Gan Ming Hoong

The cool guy who got awesome taste in music as well. And one of the few who watch Smallville and Supernatural. Sometimes, we do share music and talk about the manga we read.

Memorable moment: When we talked about the episodes of Smallville. There’s nothing cooler than that. Haha

Tan Wei Yang

One of the geniuses in class. Always able to score high mark in almost all the tests. Seriously, how does he study to get such mark?

Memorable moment: During pre-graduation photo taking, when people ask him to smile properly.

Tan Kean Seng

An ex-Miharja kid, who used to stay near with my flat. Thank you brother for fetching me home few times before. I appreciate that. I take back my words about you being lucky since I saw you put a lot of efforts in your studies before. Well done bah =D

Memorable moment: The rare time we went back together using LRT and seeing his concave chest. Kinda remind me of Bomberman.

Eric Tee Ee Long and Chin Chee Seng

The two guys who know how to make joke and make things more interesting. They are fun people to have in any party or gathering.

Leong Wai Yew

The first time that I met him, I thought I can be close to him, partly because he looks like a person who prefer to speak english. But the situation decided otherwise. We started to attend different classes as the year goes by.

The reason why I hate religion

If you’re the type of person who are very sensitive and easily get offended, well, please skip this post. I’m not challenging your belief, I just merely state out what’s my opinion on religion.

I watched a video on facebook. Basically, the whole video was narrated by a dude, who became a monk at early age and was serious about Buddha’s teaching. One day, he died, went to hell, met the devil, met a famous monk in hell, met Peter, came back to life, and converted to Christian. That’s the summary of it. And the way that the guy narrated it, it’s like he’s trying to make it sounds like a ‘true story’. Sorry dude, I’m not buying it.

When I watched that video, I got really pissed off at certain parts of the video. The first would be when that dude went to hell and saw a famous monk in a sea of fire. He recognized the monk because he admired him and for him, he’s a great teacher. Then he asked the ‘king’ of the devil that why is the monk in hell. The devil replied that although he’s a good teacher, he’s in hell because he didn’t believe in Jesus Christ. Dude, seriously? Okay, let me get this straight. First: Let’s assume that this is indeed a true story. You went to hell and you met this friendly little king devil, who don’t mind talking to you. You talked to him in English, which turns out to be an international language in hell as well, and asked him some questions. Not only does that king devil answer you, he also gave you tips on how not to end up in hell??? Hey, if I’m a king devil and I want a collection of human souls in my hell, why the hell I want you to know the ways to avoid being in hell? I would lie to you, “Erm, that guy? He’s here because… erm… he believes in God. Yup, that’s right”. And the worst part is that, the message was trying to say; it doesn’t matter what’s the good deeds you do in your life. If you simply don’t believe, well, sorry for you man.

There’s another part of the video that I really hate. And I actually type it out when I listened to it, “Then Peter said, “Now get up and go back where you came from. Speak to the people who worship Buddha and who worship idols, tell them they must go to hell if they don’t change. Those who built temple and idols will also have to go to hell. Those who gave offering to monks to earn merits for themselves, will go to hell. Those who chant and give life to idols will go to hell. All those who don’t believe in Jesus Christ, will go to hell.” And do you know what the shitty part for this? There’s a sentimental music playing at the background when the dude narrated it. It’s like, ‘yo man, I’m threatening you to believe in my god, but in a peaceful way because I playing this soft music at the same time’.

Now do you see why I hate religion? Don’t get me wrong. I don’t hate Christian, Islam, or Hinduism; I hate religion in general term. Religion is supposed to be about peace and love. But look around you, does religion really achieve its purpose? Huge number of people tried to prove or convince others that their god is the one true god and more superior than the rest and like the video that I mentioned above, they actually tried to threaten you in order to have you to believe in their god. I hate it when people used such tactic to persuade others. If there are people who start converting after watching that video, I’m pretty sure that they didn’t do it because they found something inspiring but mostly because of fear.
