EscapeRoom: Prison Break

This is our first time trying this game and yup, we lost pretty badly XD

The theme that we chose is ‘Prison Break’ and before the game starts, we keep telling ourselves that to win, “we must think out of the box, think out of the box.” Does it makes us more confidence? Yup. Does it helps us? Nope, not at all.

I’ll try to describe the event without revealing any huge spoilers/answer, so that those who haven’t try can fail miserably like us. =D Before we were lead by the staff to our designated room, they asked us to stand in line and handcuff our hands together, side by side. After we were blindfolded, the staff took us to our room and explained the basic rules. Setting wise, they did their best to decorate the room to look similar with prison room but I was hoping that the staff would tell us the summary behind the setting (the summary for each setting can be found in their website), to make it as real as possible. Once the staff was done with the briefing, we removed our blindfold and started to try to escape from the room.

When I think about the whole thing again, I find it really funny about the way we try to solve the problems. We tried some random numbers and we decided to use our hints after spending quite some time trying to unlock the boxes. The dude (I’ll call the staff as dude from now on) came in after we press the hint button and man, i think he was pissed off that we call him at early stage. When you press the hint button, you’re expecting the guy to immediately come in and tell you the hint. But he came in and started to ask us questions, in slow motion. He asked us how many boxes we opened so far and we replied none. A blank stare from him, and “Why you can’t open the box?” Erm, because we couldn’t unlock the padlock? Is there a different answer to that question? After asking all the demotivating questions, the dude finally tell us the hint and we were like, “Ohhhh….. how come we didn’t notice that”.

The same thing happened when we used our last hint and by that time, we actually get the key to unlock our handcuffs. All of us tried to use that key to unlock but none of us is able to free ourselves and I thought that that key is a fake one, a decoy that is trying to waste our time. We complained that to the dude and the dude just took the key away from us and help us to unlock all our handcuffs. He did it so easily like it was a piece of cheap plastic toy (technically, it is). Well, that’s embarrassing. I bet that while he was unlocking our handcuffs one by one, he’s saying “You gotta be kidding me. Am I seriously helping you guys breaking free from prison?! I can’t take this shit from this group anymore…” in his heart.

By the time we managed to unlock everything that can be unlock, there’s 2 minutes left and we quickly open the gate that imprison us. We were so happy that time because we thought that we can make it before the timer runs out and we cheer to each other. “Quick! Quick! Quickly open the gate!! We can make it! Yes, we can make it!!!” And after we opened that gate, well, well, will you look at that. There’s another 3 more padlocks in front of us. Life is sweet.

So yup, that’s how we lose the game as we couldn’t free ourselves in time from the room after escaping from the jail. The dude came in and reveal to us all the solutions and trust me when I said that all the solutions are so random. There’s no way we can think of that solution and I had no idea how the previous groups were able to think of such solution. But still, it was a good and fun experience. =D

Farewell Siaw Wee

20140919_190225

The day finally arrived. It’s great knowing you and we will miss your presence here. The special thing about you is that you are very sporting to participate in any kind of activities that we do. In fact, I think you’re the most enthusiastic among all of us to play touch rugby. 13 weeks are definitely too short a duration to know someone well, and I don’t know understand why you don’t want to extend your training to one year, haha. And now that you’re no longer here, I guess there’s no one else to eat brown rice anymore from the aunty.

Anyway, good luck and all the best in your studies! Stay awesome and continue play touch rugby with us =D

10353551_10201817048186246_717279124191598242_nBecause of the heavy rain this morning, the organizer cut short certain routes because of flood and that’s why we actually only run a total distance of 5.77km instead of 6.5km.

My Bucket List

I think that as you grow older, you starts to realize how little time left in your life and it’s even scary to think that you might not be aware of this because you’re too self absorbed in work life until it’s too late. I read the news about my friend’s friend passing not too long ago and she passed away at a very young age (a year younger than me). Based on my friend’s tribute to her, she definitely lead an exciting and wonderful life, by travelling across the world and experience what life has to offer. Hence, it’s a waste that her life end so suddenly because there’s still so much more she can see and experience new stuffs herself.

And because of that, I’ll start doing my own bucket list now. I have been planning to list down all the things that I want to do before I kick the bucket since long time ago but I keep on procrastinate in doing that list. Hopefully I’ll be able to cross out every items in my list before that time comes (Let’s think this in a positive way =] )

1) To hike Mount Kinabalu. I have seen a few pictures taken from the peak of that mountain and it’s really beautiful. Hope to see it with my own eyes. And coincidentally, my friend is organizing this trip now, so it should be achievable next year =D

2) To participate in a total of 20 runs.

3) Take my parents to travel abroad in my own expenses.

4) To watch BoA’s live performance at least once. Double jackpot if I manage to take a picture with her (okay, that seems a little bit too much, haha)

5) Skydiving. A REAL skydiving.

6) To feel real snow with my own hand

7) To volunteer myself in at least 5 charity events

8) To have my own pet dog

9) Learn to ride bicycle

10) Read every Stephen King’s novels.

I might increase the number of items in my list in future but for now, I’ll try my best to achieve all of them.

10 Months

Just a blink of an eye, it’s already 10 months and almost reaching a year. And yet, I still doubt whether is this really what I want to do. The environment is great, the people is great but why do I still feel like there is something not right? No matter how much care I put into my work, I never feel 100% satisfied because of the tiny part in me worrying about everything. Is this feeling normal? Or is that a sign that I’m not cut out for it?
